Lesson 1

Revision of Alphabet so far, and more practice spelling. We learnt some new letters Q = cu (viet pronunciation of c) / R = erra / S = essa / T = Tay (viet pronounciation of t) / U = uu / Ư = ư / V = vê / X = ixs / Y = ee - ee goréck or ee dài (long y)

Lesson 2

The class had a test on the routine words they learnt last week. They then received a new sheet of words – propositions of motion. Along with these words they received some homework to complete for next week.

Lesson 3

Anh Sơn gave the class some sounds to practice pronunciation and spelling - they were: E / EO / ÉT - ẸT / ÉP - ẸP / Ê / ÊN / ẾP - ỆP / IA / IÊU / IU / YÊU / YÊN / INH / IN

Lesson 4

The class practiced their reading skills from the second page of the truth tract. Remember the first day? When Anh Sơn said by the end of the class you will be reading Vietnamese at the very least accurately enough for someone in the field to understand? Congratulations, the whole class is now to that stage!

Lesson 5

Interpreter sessions! The class received a list of words commonly used during conversations with doctors and lawyers. The students then took turns of playing the role of either interpreter or Vietnamese patient/client. Whilst the doctor was prescribing amputation for a headache or a judge was handing out life in prison/no parole for some small illlegal doings, the class had a few good laughs. And this is important! Laughter is integral to the learning process, you are much more likely to remember things when your sense of humour is engaged. So games are a fundamental part of learning.

Lesson 6

The witnessing lesson this week was learning to take a simple bible study. The class received a sheet with a simple bible study arrangement on it, then the whole class practiced together.
