Lesson 1
Interpreter scenarios. We played the interpreter game again this time in smaller groups so we could all have more turns.
Lesson 2
The class received their results from last week’s test on routine words. The class then broke up into smaller groups and read the bible stories book with an instructor or helper. The instructors and helpers compiled a list of words that the students found difficult to pronounce.
Lesson 3
The class received their assignments for the last week of the class. Each student will give a theocratic ministry school type part for the final class in 5 weeks time. Sisters will of course do this in pairs; they only have to do the part of either the householder or publisher. Brothers will give a number 3 type talk – no bible readings allowed! The talks will go for 3 to 5 minutes and can be on any theocratic subject they choose. Don’t forget, if you choose a subject from the ministry school schedule, let Anthony know so he can book you in for that very talk when it comes up at the meeting – this way you can have months to perfect your first Vietnamese talk. Try to do as much of this assignment yourself as you can, using all the excellent tools and references you have received over the duration of the course. When you have translated all that you possibly can, then – and only then – take it to a Vietnamese person for final corrections. Have fun with this assignment, all the instructors have no doubt that you will all do a fantastic job!
Lesson 4
The class went through the difficult words from lesson 2, spelling and pronouncing the words. Some of these words were: gươm trăng trân trường chăng chân chương đấu dấu dấy dấy nguy cứu cầu xuống này ngày ngục nhục.
Lesson 5
Dictation. This week’s dictation was taken from the You can be God’s Friend brochure, page 17 paragraph 3. The class was given a photocopy of this paragraph after the dictation had ended. This week the class will mark their own dictation.
Lesson 6
Field service. The class had some more practice with the presentation they received last week on conducting a study. They then had some time to translate some questions they would ask a student when studying the first chapter.
Homework
As per homework sheet, the class also received Chapter 6 of the narrative.
Remember no class for the next two weeks as we have the Vietnamese and then the English conventions.
