Anh Sơn began with introduction to tones, Không dấu, dấu sắc and dấu huyền and introduction to the letters A and AI (sheet 1 of introduction to tones and sounds)

Michael did an introduction to basic conversation, after practicing as a class they all got up and had the conversation with as many people as possible. (Basic conversation sheet)

Lesson Three

Anh Sơn - Practicing what they had learnt in lesson one then moving on to the AY and AO and AU sounds and practicing them with Không dấu, dấu sắc and dấu huyền. (sheets 2 & 3 on introduction to tones and sounds)

Lesson Four

Numbers sheet and practicing as a class. Then balloons for everyone. One balloon between two practicing the numbers. Then a brief explanation of the 'rules' and oddities of Vietnamese numbers. (Numbers sheet)

Lesson Five

Review of what they had learnt already then moving on to page 4 of introduction to tones and sounds and dấu ngã, dấu hỏi and dấu nặng. Little trouble getting dấu nặng told them they need to get a little angry with the dấu nặng, that seemed to help. Practicing all 5 tones for rest of lesson with the words on page 4.

Lesson Six

Field service presentation. Printed double sided with the information for a man on one side and woman on the other, so that they can just flip and read depending on who comes to the door. Practiced all together then had couples get up and do the presentation to each other.

At some stage the Phoneme chart was handed out to help them learn their sounds correctly at home..
