Lesson 1 – Anh Long reviewed how to say the ALPHABET. There are 29 characters in the Vietnamese alphabet. Students received (this worksheet).
Lesson 2 – Anh Bảo reviewed GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS stories. Students split into 2 smaller groups & read their stories to instructors & our Vietnamese helpers.
Lesson 3 – DICTATION with anh Long. Students received their marked dictation sheets from last week. Anh Long gave the students this (dictation sheet) which he read slowly while the students added tones. The dictation sheets were again collected to be marked.
Lesson 4 – Anh Bảo reviewed the NARRATIVE from last week. Students shared their translation of this with the class. Well done everyone, this was a great effort! Today the students received (chapter 4) in the continuing saga.
Lesson 5 – ACCENT REDUCTION with anh Bảo. Have you ever noticed how difficult it can be to understand people who speak English with a strong accent? Students received (this worksheet) which explains how to reduce our accent when speaking Vietnamese. A recording was played & students followed along with the reading, practising the methods discussed. Students were encouraged to use the many recordings available & these methods to reduce their accent. Be sure to also use these methods as you follow along with the speaker at meetings when publications are read.
Lesson 6 – Anh Long taught us some KITCHEN VOCABULARY (worksheet). Anh Long held up kitchen items & asked the students "Cái gì đây?” (What is it?) Students answered with “Đây là...” (This is...) Anh Long also asked students the color & quantity of the item he was holding.
Lesson 7 – We were all very happy to have anh Hay, chị Phượng & chị Diễm helping us today! The students practised COMMUNICATING by using their prepared questions & interviewed anh Hay, chị Phượng & chị Diễm. Afterwards, students shared a few things they learnt about our special guests with the rest of the class.
Lesson 8 – FIELD SERVICE PRESENTATION (students received this worksheet).
