Warm up To warm up and practice numbers from last week, each student was given a number. When their number was called they had to stand up. After playing this way for a couple of minutes, we added another level of difficulty: when a student's number was called they had to stand up and call out another number, then the student with that number had to stand up and call out another number etc.
Lesson One - Tones and sounds
Revision of tones and sounds from last week.
New sounds - Page 5
ÁC / ẠC and ÁT/ ẠT
ÁCH / ẠCH
Only two tones apply to these sounds dấu sắc and dấu nặng.
The class also learnt new sounds KH / NG and NH
To say 'letter' in Vietnamese we say 'chử'. Chử A is letter A.
Lesson Two - Universal Language Generator
Paul Janulus is the world record holder for learning languages. He learnt 62 languages and did so by means of the Universal Language Generator (ULG). If you know just twenty words in each category you will know 64 million sentences. The basic Universal Language Generator the class received has potentially 125 sentences.
To practice using the ULG, one student would stand up and construct a sentence for the class, then the class had to guess what they had said.
Lesson Three - Tones and Sounds - Page 6 Quick revision of tones and sounds from lesson one, then on to new sounds
ÁP / ẠP and ẮP / ẶP only dấu sắc and dấu nặng apply.
ẮC / ẶC AND ẮT / ẶT (pronounced the same) only dấu sắc and dấu nặng apply.

Lesson Four - Days of the week and months of the year.
Once you have learnt numbers one to twelve you are well on your way to knowing the days of the week and months of the year. All you need to know for days of the month is Thứ and the number of the day. Two exceptions are Wednesday - thứ tư not thứ bốn and Sunday - Chủ Nhât or Chúa nhật.
For months of the year you need to know the word Tháng (Month) then each month goes by its number. Two exceptions are Tháng Giêng (January) and Tháng Tư (April)
Lesson Five - Tones and Sounds - Page 7
ẤC ẬC and ẤT ẬT (pronounced the same) again only only dấu sắc and dấu nặng apply.

Lesson Six - Books of the bible.
The class learnt the first 5 books of the bible, and how to practice them with balloons. Each student got a balloon and held the list of bible books in one hand and hit the balloon with the other hand while saying the bible books. The CD was distributed (much to the relief of the students) and the recording is also available online here.
Lesson Seven - Part One - Culture
In order for the students to grasp the kind of background and experiences that many Vietnamese people in our territory have experienced, Anh Dennis interviewed Anh Dũng from Springvale South congregation.
Lesson Seven - Part Two - Field Service
Only a slight extension of the presentation from last week - Cám ơn was added.
