New Sound OĂN - OĂNG
New Sound: OẮC OẶC - OẮT OẶT

Don't forget, when any of these sounds start with NG it is pronounced with a w in between - NGwOET etc.
Lesson Two - Language Structure - Connectives
Revision of composite words homework from last week. Here are some composite words the students found.
dâng mình = offer (present) self = dedicate (for baptism)
nhân loại = man type(kind) = mankind
có thể = have can = possible
của tôi = belong me = mine
This week's lesson was on connectives (words that join one half of a sentence to the next half) and their importance in the Vietnamese language. You will see these connectives in written language everywhere, especially in the publications. Using this worksheet, you will be able to know the meaning of these connectives.
The class worked through the worksheets and had a go at pronouncing some of these words, they did very well!
Lesson Three - Flashcards
These words were written on the board:
Nhà thờ
Phòng Nước Trời
Báp têm
Phòng Hội Nghị
Nhà Bê tên
Anthony then showed everyone A5 size pictures of each of these words and as he showed the picture, he rubbed the word off the board. This is so that it is only the picture that you are associating the new Vietnamese word with.
Anthony then wrote another word on the board:
Tiên Phong Phụ Trợ
This word was then rubbed out and remembered with the above list.

Lesson Five - Language Structure - Pluralisers and Categorisers
Don't worry about getting these perfect or learning every possible categoriser (you'll only go mad). You will learn these as you learn more nouns. These worksheets just let the you know what categorisers are and to get you started on your catergoriser learning journey.
Lesson Six - Culture lesson.
This weeks culture lesson was about how important family is in Asian culture. To help us understand this, Anh Dennis interviewed Oanh and Ken Batchelor. Read the notes here.
Lesson Seven - Field Service - Responses
For several weeks now, the students have been using their presentations effectively in the ministry. However, how will we know what people are saying when they respond in Vietnamese? The class received a handout of the common responses we get in the ministry and some effective ways to reply.
