Lesson One - Humour - Interpreter Scenarios
Interpreter Sessions! The class received a list of words commonly used during conversations with doctors and lawyers. The students then took turns playing the role of either interpreter, doctor/lawyer or patient/client.
One of our poor students was diagnosed with swine flu. Another student was allowed to stay in Australia after confirming she didn't smuggle anything into the country. Another student was informed that she should either go to court or to prison for killing her husband.
All the while the class had plenty of reasons for laughing and this is important! Laughter is integral to the learning process. You are much more likely to remember the things you are learning when your sense of humour is engaged. So games are allowed! and in fact, they are a fundamental part of learning.
Lesson Two - Tones and Pronunciation - Revision and Alphabet
The class received a handout on mastering Vietnamese Pronunciations. This sheet was used to review all the sounds the students have learned over the last 15 weeks and to answer any questions the students had about pronunciation.
The class reviewed A Ă and  and then learnt the names of A Ă Â B C D D E Ê.
Lesson Three - Prepositions
This was a total physical response lesson to learn prepositions. The students responded to commands - given entirely in Vietnamese - to stand up, sit down on the chair, stand behind the chair, walk through the chairs, sit under the table, stand to the side of the chair and to cross the road.
The class received a handout to complete for homework. There are 11 pictures each depicting a preposition. The class needs to describe in Vietnamese what is happening in the picture. Please return this sheet to Anthony next week for marking.
When you are out witnessing try to get brothers to give you directions in Vietnamese - which houses to do, which way to go etc.
Lesson Four - Reading
Anh Sơn read the first page of the 'Would you like to know the truth' tract. As Anh Sơn read, the class marked which words go together and where pausing would be appropriate. The class then read along, echoing Anh Sơn. After reading through the whole page with Anh Sơn, they then had to individually read section after section.
Lesson Five - Dictation
Michael explained a few very understandable mistakes that students commonly made last week. This weeks dictation was taken from the 'Listen to God and Live Forever' brochure page 22.
Lesson Six - Field Service - Bible Studies!
You'll notice we didn't have a culture lesson this week, Anh Dennis was having a well earned break.
The class received a presentation to start bible studies using the 'Good News from God' brochure.
After working through the presentation as a class in English, the class went through it in Vietnamese. Don't worry, you don't have to start studies today! Continue with Memorial Campaign.
